Shipping: Character not Nation

It's not like it's actually physicaly possible to ship countries anyway.

I'm starting to use the human names much more often. The drawbacks are, however, that some people do not know the country's human name. Plus, there are plenty of characters sans a human name: Ukraine, Liechtenstein, Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Belgium, Monaco, Wy, Cuba, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Netherlands, Thailand, Seychelles, Cameroon, Bulgaria, etc.

Of course, most people use shortened names of the country for it: Lili for Liechtenstein, Belle for Belgium, Sey for Seychelles, etc. Some characters even have fanon names, like Ukraine's is Yekaterina 'Katyusha' Braginskaya and Taiwan's is Meimei Wang.

But some- maybe I'm not too much into that side of the fandom but I have no idea what to call the Netherlands. Ned? Or Norway or Iceland- in those cases most people just use "Nor" or "Ice."

IDK. I think the disclaimer in some of my clubs is a good summation of it:
Disclaimer: While the manga/anime Axis Powers Hetalia uses humans to represent countries through national customs and stereotypes, the characters herein this group are depicted simply as people, though deviations may or may not have a historical context between the nations of [Country 1] and [Country 2].

Because, yes. I know America and Russia don't like each other. I'm an American- the cold war is almost back again, seeing reports on the news and just seeing people's reactions to my jacket from the Soviet Union _{IT'S AN AMAZING JACKET BTW}

But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy some Ivan x Alfred.
Or Eduard x Katyusha, or Elizaveta x Natalia. Or any of the bajillions of pairings I ship.
